Our Story

Next door neighbors, and neither of us knew it

It started with a right swipe. Jelyse and Ethan matched on Hinge, and their first date at Carruth Cellars in Little Italy turned into hours of wine, easy conversation, and trading favorite songs back and forth like secrets. Turns out their taste in music lined up almost eerily well, right down to the deep cuts. It was the kind of date that runs long enough to need a second one. Somewhere between glasses of wine, they figured out they lived in the buildings right next door to each other in Little Italy, which felt less like a coincidence and more like the city trying to tell them something.

Not long after, Jelyse and Ethan decided to get a dog together, and a small but mighty little goldendoodle named Hudson joined the family and never left. Two turned into three, and somewhere between long walks, shared playlists, and quiet nights in, it stopped feeling like dating and started feeling like a family.

By the time Thanksgiving weekend rolled around in 2025, it was the easy kind of falling, the kind where you stop noticing the falling and just notice each other. Ethan proposed in West Palm Beach, Florida, the same place they took their very first vacation together, with family close by. Now the three of them are bringing everyone west, to the California coast, to make it official.

Gifts

Your presence is the present

Truly, having you in La Jolla is the whole thing. But if you'd like to send something our way, we have plenty of plates and towels, so we're saving for the honeymoon instead.

Our Honeyfund

Give any amount toward the trip we've been dreaming about since Ethan proposed in Florida. Every bit of it goes straight to the honeymoon.

Prefer to send it directly?

Venmo works too, and it all goes to the same place. Take your pick of us.

Good Questions

A few things you might be wondering

What should I wear?

Black tie optional: think formal, but not stuffy. A cocktail dress or gown for her, a suit or tux for him. Since the ceremony is on grass, we'd skip the stiletto heels.

Is the ceremony outdoors?

Yes, an oceanfront ceremony at Scripps Seaside Forum (8610 Kennel Way, La Jolla, CA 92037), with the reception following on-site.

What's the weather like in February?

San Diego winters are mild, expect 55–65°F during the day, but it gets breezy once the sun goes down. Bring a light jacket or wrap for later in the evening.

Are kids welcome?

This one's for the adults. We love your little ones, but we're keeping the wedding weekend kid-free.

Can I bring a plus-one?

If you have a plus-one, they'll be listed by name on your invitation and in your RSVP. We aren't able to accommodate additional guests beyond the names listed.

How do I know who's invited?

Head to the RSVP section and enter your name as it appears on your invitation. You'll see everyone included in your party, and you can RSVP for each person at once.

Which airport should I fly into?

San Diego International Airport (SAN) is your best bet. It's about 13 miles from La Jolla, roughly 15 to 20 minutes by car without traffic, so it's an easy trip straight into town.

Where should I stay?

We have a courtesy room block at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines, which is also where the welcome party is. Book a room in our block at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines for $229 a night, or see Where to Stay for a couple of other options, from splurge to budget-friendly.

How do I get around for the wedding?

Parking near the venue is limited, so we'd recommend rideshare for the wedding day. If you're staying at the Hilton, overnight parking is discounted to $25 self-park or $31 valet. More logistics to come closer to the date.

Who do I contact with questions?

Email us anytime at ethanandjelyse@gmail.com. We'll get back to you as soon as we can.

Do you have a registry?

We're saving for the honeymoon rather than registering for things, so our Honeyfund is the easiest way to give. Venmo works too. See Gifts for both.
